When ITIL Started?
ITIL, which stands for Information Technology Infrastructure Library, was originally developed in the late 1980s by the United Kingdom's Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency (CCTA), now known as the Office of Government Commerce (OGC). ITIL was created to provide a set of best practices and guidelines for managing IT services and infrastructure in government agencies.
The first version of ITIL, known as ITIL version 1 (ITIL V1), was published in 1989. It consisted of a series of books that outlined various IT service management practices. Over the years, ITIL has undergone several updates and revisions to keep up with changes in technology and business practices.
The most widely adopted and recognized version of ITIL is ITIL version 3 (ITIL V3), which was introduced in 2007. In recent years, ITIL 4 was released in 2019, providing a more modern and holistic approach to IT service management, emphasizing the integration of ITIL with other frameworks and practices such as Agile, DevOps, and Lean.
