When Did ITIL V3 Come Out ?
ITIL v3 was released in June 2007. This version introduced a significant update to the ITIL framework and expanded the scope beyond the IT service management practices covered in the previous version (ITIL v2).
ITIL v3 included five core volumes :
- Service Strategy
- Service Design
- Service Transition
- Service Operation
These core volumes provided organizations with a comprehensive approach to managing their IT services throughout their entire lifecycle, from strategy development to ongoing improvement.
ITIL v3 gained widespread adoption and remained a significant reference in the IT service management field until the release of ITIL 4 in 2019, which further evolved the framework to align with modern IT and business practices.
