ITIL or ITSM

ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) and ITSM (IT Service Management) are related but distinct concepts in the realm of IT (Information Technology).

ITIL or ITSM

The ITIL framework offers recommendations and rules for managing IT services. It offers a comprehensive set of processes and procedures to align IT services with the needs of the business, improve efficiency, and deliver value to customers. ITIL covers several facets of IT service management, including service strategy, design, transfer, operation, and continuous service improvement.

On the other hand, ITSM refers to the broader discipline of managing IT services. It encompasses the entire lifecycle of IT services, from design and development to deployment, operation, and support. ITSM includes all the activities, processes, and tools that are used to plan, deliver, operate, and control IT services in an organization.
